The Juneteenth Film Festival Competition is a film festival that showcases the work of independent and student filmmakers from across the nation. Selected films are showcased during the festival, with winners receiving special awards, including a handcrafted bronze statue designed by critically acclaimed artist David Newton, who is best known for his moving sculptures in Dallas' Freedman's Memorial. The Juneteenth Film Festival Foundation, a Texas non-profit corporation, and the African American Museum have joined to create a world-class event for which Dallas can be proud! The festival takes place mid of June every year.
