Just over the Arizona-Nevada state line, a little more than three miles from Hoover Dam, the Hacienda Hotel and Casino offers the first spark of Las Vegas-style excitement for travelers from the southeast. Nestled in the mountains along U.S. 93 just outside historic Boulder City, the Hacienda appeals to locals and tourists alike with its large casino, featuring table games, a Leroy's sports book and the latest slot machines. There is plenty to do away from the casino as well. The Hacienda has two first-run movie theaters and a variety of restaurants: a 24-hour food court, the all-you-can-eat Hacienda Buffet (with the popular "King Crab Night" every Friday), Café Kokopelli and the upscale Hacienda Steakhouse. Nearby, there are all sorts of outdoor activities: helicopter rides over the dam and Lake Mead, lunch and dinner cruises aboard the Desert Princess sternwheeler, raft trips down the Colorado River and golf at two quality, reasonably priced public courses in Boulder City. With more than 250 rooms, the hotel has suites available, a gift shop and an outdoor swimming pool that's open seasonally.
