The Buckskin Inn, Quarter Horse Motor Inn and C-J Motel (the owner's horse and cattle brand) operate as The Broadus Motels. Montana owned and operated for over 40 years, these names reflect the rich history of the west centered in this region. The Powder River was the last river crossed in the miniseries ‘Lonesome Dove' as they arrived in the promised land. In prehistoric times the Powder River was under ocean, swamp, beach and grass, making for a wide range of sea fossils, dinosaur bones, unique western animals and artifacts from the long history of this regions ancient people. Near the Little Bighorn Mountains, between Mount Rushmore in the sacred Black Hills and the Battle of the Little Bighorn, where Custer met his end, Broadus is a perfect stop on your way to or from Yellowstone Park's most scenic mountain entrance on Highway 212. Motel rates are 1/2 to 1/3 the cost of those areas yet include all the amenities and where the locals still greet travelers with a smile and a wave, making this the place to make your base camp for seeing the best of this entire region. With a remarkable local museum. old western buildings and a community descendant directly from the area settler, Broadus boasts numerous murals, sculptures and works of art unique to this small western town.
