The Atlantic Ocean always provides a breath-taking display whether its a lazy summer afternoon with salty breezes and softly lapping waves or a fierce north wind blows up huge waves to crash against the rocks. Perched on the rocky coastline of Cape Ann, these are the unspoiled views from the Bass Rocks Ocean Inn. With every room facing the ocean, enjoy the panorama that stretches from Bass Rocks, to Good Harbor Beach and Salt Island, to Long Beach and the Twin Lights of Thatchers Island, and the open Atlantic Ocean. Listed in the National Registry of Historic Places, the George O. Stacy House, accented with 19th century antiques, will be a nucleus of activity for your stay. Breakfast is served on the sunporch from our bountiful complimentary, cold buffet table. During the day or evening you can relax in our living room, enjoy your favorite video, and partake of our freshly baked cookies and lemonade. Let us tempt you with our fresh, ground coffee or afternoon teas. You may try your hand at pocket billiards in our Old World game room. We also have board games, internet computer and an extensive lending library available for every member of the family. Take a refreshing swim in our outdoor pool or just lounge in the sun overlooking the ocean. We have a rooftop sun and observation deck from which you can watch Gloucester's fishing fleet go out for the days catch. Borrow one of our bikes and tour the mansions along the shores of East Gloucester. Or try your hand at a game of croquet. Explore, along the ocean, the many tidal pools. Get out your fishing rod for the Striped Bass and Blue Fish off the rocks in front of the hotel. Partake of our membership at the adjacent Bass Rocks Golf Club, an 18-hole private club overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. Stroll along the ocean walk for a 0.25 mile and take the footbridge to Good Harbor Beach. With beautiful white sand, this is a full service beach with lifeguards, bathhouse, and concession.
