Small, owner-operated winery, originally built in 1898 by Frederick Hess, and reestablished in 1982 by W.H. Smith. Offers estate-grown, vintage-dated Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc from its 28-acre vineyard situated in Napa’s Howell Mountain area, at an elevation of 1,400 feet. Wines are also produced from grapes purchased on a select-vineyard basis. The winery was acquired by Markham Vineyards in 2001. Visitors by appointment only.
