We moored alongside one temple and were driven to yet another temple, this one the Wat Phra Si Sanphet, set amid a vast park where elephants toted Japanese tourists from one side to the other. The guide explained that the Japanese visitors to the city loved riding on the elephants. Looking around, there was nothing much else they could do apart from take pictures of the temple. Time up and it was back to the train and a very welcome afternoon tea was served in the compartment, all very English, with fine china and fruit cake. All that was missing were those cute little cucumber sandwiches with the crusts removed.
