Bubión is recognized for its Roman mines and Nasrid tower used by Ab’n Humeya’s troops as a defensive garrison during clashes with the Christians. Capileira is the second highest town in Spain at 1,432 m (4,697 feet), surpassed only by the nearby Alpujarran village of Trevélez. Besides wandering like a lost dog through its zig-zag streets, you could visit the odd Museo Alpujareño which is devoted to the region’s endemic arts and customs.
