This notable restaurant is set in a 16th-century building erected by the wealthy Rinaldi family sparing no expense. For many years it was known as the “Ostaria dai Sporchi,” where the famous vin in scuea (wine in bowls) was served, and today it specializes in classic provincial dishes. The high-ceiling dining rooms are richly decorated and one of the restaurant’s finest attributes is the fresco on the wall in the main dining room discovered during a renovation. The kitchen specializes in fish-based dishes and there are several excellent ones to choose from, including the springtime tagliatelle mimosa prepared with scallops and asparagus. If you can’t snag a seat facing the fresco, try for one in the upstairs dining room. This restaurant is elegant but not pretentious and attracts a mostly local crowd. The adjacent wine bar, Enoteca Odeon serves highly acclaimed local and international wines and a degustazione (tasting) can be arranged upon request.
