The history of this school of tapestry dates back to the late 1800s when the son of Robert and Elizabeth Barrett Browning, Pen, founded a school of lace. By 1920 the school passed into the hands of Lucia Bonaffons Casale, who made profound changes and adapted antique embroidery styles to modern tastes. Over the years the school has changed hands several times and today Anna Milani carries on this Asolan tradition in a small shop where she continues to produce refined embroidery.
