It’s a pretty long trek to the Chiesa di San Pietro further along Corso Cavour, but it’s worth the walk. This former Benedictine abbey houses one of the finest Gothic wooden choirs in Italy, a remarkable gilded ceiling from 1556 and a range of frescoes and paintings by artists as prestigious as Vasari, Perugino, Parmigianino and Raphael. A door in the apse of the wooden choir leads to a tiny balcony with a fabulous view over the Valle Umbra as far as Assisi, Monte Subasio and the Apennines.
