On the adjacent Piazza Collicola is the new home of the Galleria Comunale d‘Arte Moderna e Contemporanea. The pretty eclectic collection includes works by young Umbrian avant-garde artists, the vast sculpture by Alexander Calder known as Teodolapio (previously in the square in front of the train station), and a portable crucifix, painted on both sides, by the Mastro di Sant’Alò – one side depicts Christ surrounded by soldiers; the other, Madonna with St John the Baptist.
