It’s only a short hop from Follonica to Massa Marittima along the SS439. On the edge of the stunning Colline Metallifere, this charming “art” town is one of the major tourist draws in the region and, once you arrive in its attractive medieval center (Massa Vecchia), you’ll easily see why. The heart of the old town is Piazza Garibaldiar, where the majority of sights are concentrated: Palazzo del Podestà, Palazzo dei Priori and the imposing Romanesque-Gothic Cattedrale di San Cerbone, the finest example of religious architecture in the province. The Palazzo del Podestà is the current home to the Museo Archeologico.
