Prato’s second-most important museum, the Museo di Pittura Murale a short walk up Via L. Muzzi (turn right onto Via Cesare Guasti). It displays a collection of 14th- to 17th-century detached frescoes, sinopie and sgraffiti (preliminary sketches) by artists as prestigious as Niccolò Gerini, Agnolo Gaddi, Paolo Uccello and Il Volterrano. Thanks to its temporary “Treasures of the City” exhibition, you can also check out a rich collection of works that have been moved here from the Museo Civico – watch for altarpieces by Filippo Lippi and son Filippino, and a polyptych by Bernardo Gaddi.
