Nineteen air-conditioned rooms with bath, shower, TV, telephone and ceiling fan in an excellent location on Villa Point. The rooms are named after tropical flowers, as is the custom with many hotels, but Grand View continues the theme with a painted frieze around each room. The building dates to the late 1700s when it was a battery supporting Fort Duvernette on Young Island. Converted for the cotton industry in the 1870s, it finally became a hotel in 1962. The owner, Tony Sardine, was born here – it was his father who opened Grand View as a hotel. We found this property quiet and graceful. The dining was first class. The pool, refreshing and private, with a bird’s-eye view below to Indian Bay, Villa and Young Island. The restaurant and bar terrace looks westwards towards Arnos Vale and the setting sun. A tennis court, squash court, and fitness center complete the picture.
