Ny Carlsberg Glyptotek, next to Tivoli Gardens along H.C. Andersen Boulevard, has been around for a century. When the museum opened, the entire collection came from Carl Jacobsen, the owner of Ny Carlsberg Brewery and founder of the Glyptotek, who had a real passion for art. The brewery financed the construction of the building and still maintains it today. So whenever you consume a Carlsberg or Tuborg beer you can say that you support Danish culture (if you need to justify your consumption). “Glyptotek” means sculpture collection and there is an impressive collection of statuary, but the museum consists of much more than that. There are two main areas; one consists of art from French and Danish artists, the other of works from the Mediterranean.
