There are two stories about the baobab tree in Queens Park. The first says it was brought to Barbados from Guinea around 350 years ago. The second says the area was originally a swamp; a seed blown from Guinea 1,000 years ago took root! Either way it is the largest tree of its kind in the Caribbean. Its circumference of 61½ ft (18 m) takes 15 adults with outstretched arms to cover! Another tree, only slightly smaller, can be found on Warren’s Road in St Michael. The trees are listed in the Seven Wonders of Barbados.
